Fire Ranger and Landscape Painter

Tom Thomson painted the Canadian landscape with bold, brilliant brushstrokes, transforming the way Canadians looked at the northern rocks, lakes, and trees.

Thomson hired on as a fire ranger in Algonquin Park for one summer, the summer of 1916.  He continued to paint when he could.  The following year, he died mysteriously in a canoe accident at the age of 40.
