
Tom
Thomson painted the Canadian landscape with bold, brilliant
brushstrokes, transforming the way Canadians looked at the
northern rocks, lakes, and trees.
Thomson hired on as a fire ranger in Algonquin Park for one
summer, the summer of 1916. He continued to paint when he
could. The following year, he died mysteriously in a canoe
accident at the age of 40.
