Ugly looking and difficult to handle, the single wing, liberty-engined Air Yacht had the advantage of on excellent view from it's cockpit.Three Loening Air Yachts were registered in Canada; C-GADV, C-GAOO and C-GAOT. The first arrived in Canada in 1924 and while they were still powered by a Liberty engine they had an enclosed cabin and were much faster than the HS-2Ls. C-GADV crashed on takeoff at LaToque, Quebec after a fire extinguisher broke loose and jammed the controls. OPAS lost its first Loening when it also crashed on takeoff carrying two first time air passengers but again no one was injured.
