CBHC announces new President, Hugh MacDonald

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre Announces New President

January 8, 2010 - The Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre (CBHC) is pleased to announce that Hugh MacDonald has been appointed as President of this premiere facility.

MacDonald is a lawyer who has lived and worked for more than 30 years in Sault Ste. Marie with his wife and three sons. He is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario and has been active in the economic and touristic development in the city for many years, including past work as president of the Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce. He has been an active volunteer and CBHC board member since 2000.

“I’m excited to be taking over as president at a time when the Centre has never had a stronger team of committed staff and volunteers. What has been done in the last twenty years – and continues to be done – by our talented people is remarkable. Our children’s centre and student programming is fantastic. And we’re going to make it even better in the years to come,” says MacDonald. “The Bushplane Museum has a wonderful product and place to show it off. It’s absolutely got something for everyone!”

The Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre is a unique centre devoted to preserving the history of Bush Flying and Forest Protection in Canada. Volunteer members actively acquire, restore, preserve and display floatplanes, bushplanes, waterbombers, and forest fire fighting equipment along with other aviation and forestry-related artifacts in order to celebrate the achievements of Canada's aviation and forest fire fighting pioneers. Thousands of people have had the pleasure of learning of the contribution of bush pilots and these machines to life in Northern Canada.

The Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre is located at 50 Pim Street, Sault Ste. Marie, ON, P6A 3G4, (www.bushplane.com) where you will find one of Canada’s most intriguing collections of airplanes and artifacts, including the CF-OBS, the first production Beaver manufactured by de Havilland Canada. The Centre is open daily 9am to 6pm from mid-May to mid-October and open daily from 10am to 4pm during the rest of the year.
