FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre Names New Executive Director

April 26, 2010
– The Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre (CBHC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mike Delfre as its new Executive Director.

“The Executive Director selection committee unanimously recommended Mike to the Board based on his past experience working in our community and his enthusiasm for this opportunity” stated CBHC President Hugh MacDonald. “We are happy to have Mike join us as the new leader of the team of staff, Board members and volunteers at the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre.“

Delfre is currently Manager of YMCA Employment and Community Services. He is a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Rotary Club, where he serves as a co-chair of the annual Easter Seals campaign and also represents Rotary on the Board of the Children’s Rehabilitation Centre Algoma. “I have thoroughly enjoyed every visit I have ever made to the Bushplane Centre,” stated Delfre. “It is a unique entertainment experience everyone in Sault Ste. Marie can be proud of. It’s an important tourist attraction in Northern Ontario and an excellent venue for conferences, weddings and social gatherings.”

Mr. Delfre will assume his new role as CBHC Executive Director on May 10th.

The Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre (CBHC) is a unique centre devoted to preserving the history of Bush Flying and Forest Protection in Canada. Volunteer members actively acquire, restore, preserve and display floatplanes, bushplanes, waterbombers, and forest firefighting equipment along with other aviation and forestry-related artifacts in order to celebrate the achievements of Canada's aviation and forest fire fighting pioneers. Thousands of people have had the pleasure of learning of the contribution of bush pilots and these machines to life in Northern Canada.

The CBHC is located at 50 Pim Street in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario (www.bushplane.com). The Centre boasts one of Canada’s most intriguing collections of airplanes and artifacts, including the CF-OBS, the first production Beaver manufactured by de Havilland Canada. The Centre is open daily 9am to 6pm from mid-May to mid-October and from 10am to 4pm during the rest of the year.
