The Vedette purchased by the Air Serivice originally had a 180 H.P. Armstrong Sidley Lynx engine but it was replaced with the Whirlwind. The plane was appreciated for its relatively quick take off and a flying speed of 92 m.p.h. The Vedette was used extensively for aerial photography and remained in OPAS service until 1944
