For Teachers...
The Canadian Bushplane Centre's Educational Mandate: To work with the volunteers, staff and local school boards to create a positive educational experience for students and teachers and to promote the CBHC facility and resources as an educational tool; to meet curriculum requirements and educational expectations for relevant subject areas in all grades.

The Bushplane Museum is committed to offering quality education to local and regional schools, whether that be in the classroom, or here in the Museum. We offer curriculum-based classroom presentations, which may be followed by tours of the Museum by one of our knowledgeable tour guides. Our Museum is unique in that it is 100% interactive, with a strong focus on science (specifically, the science of flight).

Planning a tour to the Museum? We appreciate your visit, and sincerely hope you enjoy yourselves while you are here. History & Social Sciences
Although the Education Program here at the Bushplane Museum focuses mainly on the science of flight, you cannot discuss our airplanes or our museum without in some way talking about the development of aircraft, the evolution of the air industry, and especially not without talking about the incredible lives these pilots and engineers led.
Below is some material to help you get started:
 The Early Years of Bushflying
Biography Web - discuss important pilots or characters in aviation history.
The ITU Alphabet - fun activity to demonstrate the use of radios in aviation and forestry.
Morse Code - activity on Morse Code communications

The Science of Flight
The Science of Flight accounts for the majority of the Education material offered in the classroom presentations put on by our Education team. The material covered includes the characteristics of flight, the principles of air, Bernoulli's Principle, the characteristics of an airplane, and more! Here is just a sneak peak at some of the material we cover; remember, the best way to teach children about airplanes is for them to see, feel, and embark the real thing!

 Science Scavenger Hunt [pg. 2]
This scavenger hunt, geared towards grades 4 through 8, deals with some of the concepts discussed during a typical Study of Flight tour of the Museum. Give each student a copy before you leave for the Museum; it will keep them engaged during their tour.
Note: print both files, one on each side of a single sheet of paper (double-sided printing). Then the page can be folded into 8 squares for a handheld little booklet!

General Interest Scavenger Hunt [pg. 1]
General Interest Scavenger Hunt [pg. 2]
Science not your thing? This General Interest scavanger hunt deals with more general, "find me" questions, and can be used by almost any age group. Each member of your group should be equipped with one of these before they get to the Museum.
